Grief & Loss
Room for what you miss and what has changed.
The world may have carried on while your life feels changed in ways you are still discovering. You might want to talk, or you might not know where to begin. There is room for both, without a deadline for feeling better.

When this feels familiar
The world may have moved on before you were ready.
Loss can change ordinary moments, familiar routines, and the future you imagined. You may feel different from one day to the next.
Working together
Make room for grief without forcing it into a timetable.
Start with your experience, then choose goals and an approach that fit your circumstances.
Your first conversation
You don’t need to explain it perfectly.
“People keep asking how I’m doing, and I don’t know how to answer.”
You can begin with the loss itself or with something that has become difficult since. You do not need to justify the strength of your feelings or arrive ready to make sense of them.
You can ask about the clinician’s approach and share what would help you feel more comfortable talking. You do not need a prepared speech or a complete history ready to tell.

Before you reach out
A few things you might be wondering.
Is it too soon, or too late, to ask for support?
You can reach out when you want a place to talk or need help with how loss is affecting your life. Ask about a clinician’s experience and fit.
Can I talk about losses other than a death?
Yes. You can discuss the loss of a relationship, role, ability, hoped-for future, or another meaningful part of life.
What if I feel several different things at once?
You can bring mixed feelings into the conversation. You do not have to settle on one acceptable response before speaking honestly.
Can I talk about a loss that other people do not understand?
You can ask for support with a death, a changed relationship, a lost role, or a future that did not unfold as expected. Share as much or as little context as you want when asking about a clinician’s experience with that kind of loss.
Can I meet online or use insurance?
Appointment formats and insurance networks vary by clinician. Review the individual profile, then ask the office to confirm availability, current fees, and your plan’s benefits before you begin.
What if I’m not sure which clinician to choose?
Contact the office with a little information about what you are looking for. You can ask about relevant experience, ages served, appointment formats, and payment options.

You can start with what matters to you.
Tell us a little about what you are looking for. We’ll help you understand your options and what comes next.
