Get to Know Sierra
I earned a Bachelor of Science in Rehabilitation Studies with a certification in Substance Use Disorder Treatment from the University of North Texas. I am currently completing my final year in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling graduate program at Hardin-Simmons University, where I maintain a 4.0 GPA.
I am currently completing clinical internships at Clear Skies Counseling, Abilene Absolute Recovery Solutions, the Battering Intervention and Prevention Program (BIPP), and the Hardin-Simmons Counseling Center. Through these experiences, I have worked with individuals facing trauma, substance use concerns, emotional distress, relationship challenges, and significant life stressors.
Prior to beginning my counseling training, I gained experience in community outreach, advocacy, and educational settings serving individuals and families across the Abilene area. These experiences included helping individuals access supportive services, contributing to sexual assault response and prevention initiatives, and working with children and adolescents in educational environments. These opportunities strengthened my passion for trauma-informed care and accessible mental health support for underserved communities.
My professional focus include trauma counseling, substance use recovery, and crisis intervention. I am especially passionate about supporting individuals with disabilities and those facing financial or social barriers to care. I value building genuine therapeutic relationships and helping clients strengthen coping skills, build resilience, and move toward healthier patterns and emotional well-being.
